  • it's done!!!!!

14,000 words and 58 pages later, I'm finished my ethnography!!!! I've just spent the last hour or so trying to make it e-mail-able for my professor only to get a delivery failure notification from his e-mail! Grr... hopefully something will get figured out!

I should be feeling extreme relief and satisfaction but I don't...at all. I've had to put a lot of things on hold to get this finished up on time so now I've got lots of catching up to do and it's kind of overwhelming! This feels a lot like my High School grad... my school does things a little backwards and we had our grad ceremony before we wrote finals! It's a little hard to be excited about finishing school when you've got finals at the back of your mind!

I also feel like I ran out of steam at the end and perhaps I didn't finish as well as I could have.

Today was a great day... Started off with one of my teammates bringing (and buying!) me McDonald's breakfast! After church there was a meeting so during the meeting I washed dishes and got lunch ready and then I got to play upstairs with Masanobu (a boy who comes to Sunday School). Even though I can barely communicate with him, we had a grand time together! We started by playing with megablocks, then we played with a big bouncy ball (the small rubber kind) then we 'bowled' using the bouncy ball and some toll paint bottles! He loved it and so did I! It's amazing how much fun you can have with limited communication! I was able to understand little bits of what he said to me and my major accomplishment of the day was successfully asking him what he had learned/studied that morning in Sunday School!

He's such a little sweet heart and I just love him! He sat next to me when we were eating lunch and while we were eating, he got quite a kick out of bugging me about the pile of olives I had picked out of my pasta salad! I was busted by an 8 year old!

After the service in Hirao I went to McDonald's (yes, I know, McDonald's twice in one day is probably not the healthiest lifestyle!) with the Reisters so that Bob could finish editing my ethnography. I managed to strike again as the 'queen of clumsiness'... I spilled all 3 of our drinks all over the floor with plenty of people around! I wonder if I'll ever make it though a day without doing something clumsy!! Oh well, at least I can make people laugh... and laugh at myself!

Anyway, I should be going to bed since it's after 1 now and I've been going to bed late every night this past week.

    Have a great week!
